BREAKING - Avalanche Are Trying To Trade Defenseman So They Can Sign Kadri
Heading into this years NHL free agency frenzy there were two of the biggest names that we have seen in years be available for re-homing, Calgary Flames forward Johnny Gaudreau and Colorado Avalanche Cup Winning forward Nazem Kadri coming off a impressive career high 92 point season and seeking a higher paying contract.
It appeared that the Aves and Kadri's camp went there separate ways as they could not reach a agreement for Kadri's salary, until day one, day two, and day three went by of the free agency period and Nazem Kadri has yet to find a home?
Elliot Friedman reports that Nazem Kadri knows a few teams want to sign him but do not have the cap space available, Friedman says he is currently waiting for teams to clear cap space. He reports Colorado is a possibility, but do not count other teams out as there are others involved.
Nazem Kadri was a perfect fit in Colorado and now it seems that the Avalanche are aggressively working on moving defenseman Samuel Giard to clear cap space to re-sign Nazem Kadri to a contract. Giard providing more offense from a defenseman that most do make him a valuable asset that many teams would be interested in, Giard currently holds a cap hit of $5,000,000 million per season for the next 5 years until he is 29 years of age (currently 24).
