One big change was made and that's in net the Leafs traded Petr Mrázek at the trade deadline to the Blackhawks and their number one goaltender Jack Campbell decided to join the Oilers during free agency.
So Dubas had to fill that void, by signing former Capitals goaltender Ilya Samsonov, then in a surprise move would acquire Matt Murray in a trade with the Senators.
Leaf fans have been have been very mixed of these changes whether or not the Leafs are better or worse in goal this season with Samsonov and Murray.
Now with just over a month till the regular season begins Leafs General Manager Kyle Davidson is swinging for the fences trying to make a monster trade.
According to FanSided's Editor In Leaf, don't be surprised to see Dubas make a run at Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck.
"Hellebuyck, who has a Vezina, is 29 years-old, and has a contract of just over $6 million for each of the next two seasons, is a perfect candidate for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
He is cheap, he is not signed long-term, and his current team is garbage and doesn't look to be getting any better before he is an unrestricted free-agent asking for nine or ten million per season.
The Winnipeg Jets, like the Islanders, are in possession of a goalie who is going to price himself out of town before they can ice a contender around him. The obvious move is to cash in, and, should Matt Murray not pan out, look for the Toronto Maple Leafs to try and make a move in this direction."
What a move this would be for Leafs Nation and Could possibly Make The Leafs The Eastern Conference Favorite.
