Hughes is trying to rebuild the Canadiens after having their worst season in franchise history last year finishing dead last in the entire NHL. Since then Hughes has made some nice moves like drafting Juraj Slafkovsky first overall and acquiring many picks and prospects to help with his rebuild.
Unfortunately for Hughes the Canadiens are up against the salary cap and still haven't singed newly acquired center Kirby Dach who was traded to the Canadiens from the Blackhawks back in July in Montreal at the NHL draft.
The Canadiens are also loaded with too many players ahead of the season also meaning some trades are obviously going to have to be made still. So today the Montreal Canadiens have placed three forwards officially on the trading block.
According to Marco D'Amico of Montreal Hockey Now, "The Montreal Canadiens have placed three forwards on the trade market. Those three players are centermChristian Dvorak ($4.45 million salary), forward
Mike Hoffman ($4.5 million salary) and forward Joel Armia ($3.4 million). -Marco D'Amico"
