Bedard and lead scout sounds off on the 1st pick
Although Connor Bedard is currently projected to be the first overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks, it's important to note that these predictions are not set in stone.
Each team will conduct their due diligence by analyzing the prospects' skills, competitive level, and other metrics before making their final decision.
Connor Bedard and Blackhawks dir. of am. scouting Mike Doneghey on the latest NHL Draft Class.
Bedard: "Nothing is final yet. I think you got to wait till draft to see who decides to take me."
Doneghey on who's No. 1?: "I've still got a lot of work to do."
Despite being the NHL and WHL's latest media darling and expected top pick, Connor Bedard remains humble about his draft status.
He understands that scouts have a lot of work to do before the draft, and even then, his talent assessment could change, leading to a lower pick.
But regardless, some team will steal him immediately, as Bedard is a franchise-changing talent.
