Bedard's future offence just improved immensly
With the Blackhawks in full rebuilding mode and the offseason in front of us, the Blackhawks decided to pull off a great trade in acquiring winger and former Hart winner Taylor Hall along with the rights to Nick Foligno exchanged for two younger assets.
It is the kind of trade that the Blackhawks need to do as they continue to assess their plans and give the forwards some credibility. Charlie Roumeliotis breaks down all the pros in his tweet, all dead accurate.
Hall still has plenty to offer the Blackhawks in the coming years as the 31-year-old left winger put together a modest season with the Boston Bruins while playing 61 games, with sixteen goals and 20 assists for 36 points and was a + 11.
Former first-round first-overall pick of the Oilers in the 2010 NHL draft, he represented their future as they continued to stockpile first-round draft picks.
Standing at 6 foot one and 210 pounds, Hall will offer the Blackhawks a true top-six power forward at his age. He will give this new offence a veteran presence and help players like Connor Bedard become more rounded and better overall as NHLers.
Hats off to general manager Kyle Davidson for recognizing a move like this and seeing that the Boston Bruins were in trouble financially and keeping their deadline acquisition Tyler Bertuzzi under contract next year.
Davidson will need to look more often and try to acquire this kind of talent to help accelerate this rebuild.
