The Chicago Blackhawks and Pittsburgh Penguins Are Eyeing Down an Expensive Trade
The Blackhawks and Penguins are rumored to be considering a trade that could benefit both teams.
From the Penguins' perspective, the goal is to create more cap flexibility by offloading Mikael Granlund, who didn't mesh well with the team after being acquired last season. He holds quite the awful contract, which was acquired by no other then Ron Hextall.
The Blackhawks, on the other hand, see Granlund as a valuable addition to their rebuilding process. With his ability to play in the top six and his strong work ethic, he could mentor the younger players on the team.
Granlund's potential departure from Pittsburgh seems imminent, as he is frequently mentioned in trade discussions and is likely to start the next season with a different team.
