Bedard is not too pleased with Blackhawks off ice ONLY development camp
There is a talented franchise center named Connor Bedard who has been compared to Connor McDavid in terms of his skills and abilities.
In his last season in the WHL, Bedard managed to score over 140+ points and dominated the World Juniors. Recently, he was selected as the first pick overall and joined the Chicago Blackhawks for their Development Camp.
Connor Bedard on not being on the ice for a few weeks: "It's been a pretty long time, maybe the longest in my life." #Blackhawks
However, this camp was different from what he had expected, as there was no ice time available for the team. Bedard expressed his disappointment with this fact and mentioned that this was one of the longest periods he had been off the ice.
The main reason why the team chose to move workouts off the ice is to allow players to rest head coach Luke Richardson states. It also takes the pressure off some prospects to perform at a high level as management watches from the stands.
While the rest of the team took part in various off-ice activities such as boxing, visiting Wrigley Field, going to the gym with other prospects, and participating in life development courses like cooking, Bedard was left without any opportunity to skate with his new teammates.
Although the team has rationalized their approach as a way to rest up players for September, Bedard's frustration at not being able to skate with his new team is understandable.
