Life giveth and life taketh away. The Chicago Blackhawks in this instance are giving fans easier access to the United Center with these redevelopment plans.

Rejoice, Blackhawks fans as you are allowed to have nice things, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

With a recent announcement, the Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Bulls are improving access to the United Center.

With their redevelopment plans outlined the team's plan is to use direct access via a Pink Lane station at Monroe.

This in light of the team's current issues, should relieve fans of some stress, when they attempt to fight traffic to make it to a Blackhawks game.

Abby Miller of the Chicago Sun-Times gives us a better picture of what the Blackhawks and the city have for the future.

Savarise believes it could create Chicago's «next great transit hub.» There's plans to add new bus shelters, Divvy stations and bike lanes to improve connectivity for cyclists. That's in addition to the potential for a new CTA Pink Line station. Chicago Blackhawks Chairman and CEO Danny Wirtz previously said the owners have been «really open with the city» about a possible reconfiguration of the Pink Line

While the discussion regarding the redevelopment continues, the main idea is to not only drive economic forces but also build the community up further.

Not just for entertainment value alone.

Conversations with the CTA about a new Pink Line station are ongoing, according to lawyers for the development team.
«We believe [transportation is] important, because that will help to promote and push economic opportunity to our west, which is something that we believe is a long time coming,» Savarise said.

The United Center redevelopment will be a benefit for re-envisioning how Blackhawks fans will be able to see the games. They plan on making neighborhoods part of the outer ring of the development, while public spaces would be connected through the "inner ring".

While the CHSN situation may grate your nerves, this seems like it could be a worthwhile project and make a difficult or annoying drive, less of a headache downtown.
