Blackhawks Calvin De Haan Could be Heading to One of These Contenders Next Season..

Calvin De Haan was originally drafted by the New York Islanders in 2009, 12th overall in the entire draft. De Haan went on to play 6 season with the Islanders, having his best season 5 years into his career putting up 5 goals and 15 assists in 82 games.

His time was due in New York and he was shipped over to the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2018-19 season, having a above average season- after the 2018-19 season he was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks.

This season is going on the 30 year old Calvin De Haans 3rd season with the Blackhawks, each season he has declined to a new career low. Some may argue that he is on the Blackhawks hence why he is at a career low, that may be true and with his contract expiring this season he could slot into a 3rd D-pair of most teams giving veteran experience for the playoffs and more.

De Haan is having his worst +/- season to date, as well as his lowest assist count. The defenseman has had plenty of minutes with the Blackhawks DeBrincat-Strome-Kane top line and it does not make much sense why he is kept off the score sheet so much. De Haan does not hold very much trade value, and i am sure he would be moved for a VERY late draft pick if not future considerations as he is a UFA after this season and will be able to choose where he would like to go.

The Blackhawks tried to move Calvin De Haan and Dominik Kubalik at the trade deadline, but nobody want interested in either. De Haan even said the following day after the trade line that he was shocked he did not get traded. It has been reported that we are looking at De Haans last few seasons in the NHL before hanging up the skates, and hopefully he can spend those last few winning games.
