Let's be real, no matter what NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman says about team's aren't tanking he's blatantly a liar, teams do tank and sell their team off and the Blackhawks are a perfect example of that.
With the prize in this year's NHL Entry Draft a once in a life time general talent that some say "could be even better then
Connor McDavid", all teams are looking to land hockey phenom
Connor Bedard.
One Organization has done it's best to tank harder than everyone else and that's the Chicago Blackhawks and General Manager Kyle Davidson. This past off-season Davidson traded away two of the Blackhawks pieces that were to form the Blackhawks in
Alex DeBrincat and
Kirby Dach.
DeBrincat would speak his mind when he was a Blackhawk he was clearly against tanking saying:
That's why we play the game, right? We're trying to win every game we play. We've got to control what we can control here, and obviously the front office, they control that.
He was also joined by Mackenzie Entwhistle who would likely not be in the NHL if the Blackhawks weren't tanking. Who would also speak on tanking saying:
No, no definitely not. Your goal should be to win a Stanley Cup. Where we pick and stuff, that's something that we can't control. So every guy in this room wants to win. The higher we place, the better for us.
Whether not you agree with tanking it's clear the Chicago Blackhawks, like many others on the basement teams have been trying hard to improve their chances for the draft lottery rather then improve their teams odds of winning this season.
