According to Ben Pope of the Chicago Blackhawks, Alex DeBrincat is willing to begin contract negotiations with the Chicago Blackhawks once he is cleared to this off-season.

DeBrincat is in the final year of his contract and has a $9 million qualifying offer on the table. In terms of his performance for the Blackhawks last season, he has earned that salary and deserves a raise, as he has developed into a top-tier NHL goal scorer. He has 41 goals and 36 assists in 80 games this season, which is a career high for DeBrincat- Kane also completing some career high stats with DeBrincat on his wing.

With the Blackhawks rebuilding, there have been rumours that DeBrincat may be available for trade. The 24-year-old is their biggest trade asset, the haul they got from the Tampa Bay Lightning for Brandon Hagel, they could get much more for DeBrincat to help their future.
