The Blackhawks organization, along with many pundits throughout the NHL and most of their fan base, expected a painful season ahead as the team decided to gut the bulk of their star power in a bid to rebuild from scratch.

Moving on from the Patrick Kane - Jonathan Toews era dismantling the core was designed to set the team back for years.

Now, with some of those decisions made, the team is beginning to experience the expected pain, and it's not sitting well with numerous players, especially the veterans. While many signed up to play with Connor Bedard and to take on leadership roles, losing is still not enjoyable, especially constantly.

Blackhawks forward Nick Foligno was asked about his perspective on how the Blackhawks are handling their current struggles.

As a small miracle could happen where the team could turn it around, it's expected to continue to falter, and General Manager Kyle Davidson will begin to resell more of his veteran players to recuperate more draft picks and prospects as the rebuilding phase intensifies.

Players like Foligno will be put up for sale near the March trade deadline in 2024, as this will give them the chance to be part of a winning team again. The hope is that the Blackhawks will finish with a lottery pick, preferably near the first overall once again.
