The Blackhawks were one of the biggest sellers ahead of the trade deadline, losing names such as Patrick Kane, Max Domi, Sam Lafferty, Jake McCabe and Jack Johnson. Now that all the big names are gone, Chicago needs to fill space on the roster. Thursday afternoon it was announced that the Blackhawks signed forward Luke Philp to a one-year, two-way, $775,000 contract.
Philp has one assist in two games with the Blackhawks this season. He earned that first NHL point against the Calgary Flames Jan. 26 for an assist on forward Boris Katchouk's goal in Chicago's 5-1 win. Philp also has 38 points (18G, 20A) in 45 games with the Rockford IceHogs.
We'll likely see more of Philp through the 2023-2024 season.
