The Chicago Blackhawks will interview Scott Mellanby for the team's General Manager position, according to the Athletic.
Scott Mellanby, who was with the Montreal Canadiens from 2012 to 2021, resigned as assistant GM in November. He was notified he was no longer part of Montreal's GM search. The 55-year-old had been the General Manager since 2014, after previously working as the Canadiens' director of player personnel. Part of his responsibility as AGM included being the AGM of Montreal's AHL team.
Selected 27th overall in the 1984 NHL Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers, Mellanby played 21 NHL seasons as a forward with the Flyers, Oilers, Panthers, Blues, and Thrashers.
What are your thoughts? Many hawks fans remember him for being a rough and tough NHL'er. Mellanby left the game having played the 3rd most NHL games (1431) without a Stanley Cup victory, only behind Phil Housley (1495) and Mike Gartner (1432). In 1431 career games, he had 364 goals and 476 assists. Not to mention a whopping 2479 Penalty Minutes!
