Blackhawks fans felt Kyle Davidson's desperation for a first-round pick the second he traded Alex Debrincat to Ottawa. The desperation seemingly turned trigger-happy after trading Kirby Dach to Montreal for the 13th and 66th overall picks.

The trade was announced by Gary Bettman just before the Coyotes made their pick at 3rd overall. It circulated on Twitter that Davidson was looking for the 15th pick or higher for Dach, and the teams linked to him were the Blue Jackets and the Red Wings.

With the 13th pick, the Blackhawks selected forward Frank Nazar from the U.S. National Team Development Program. He earned 105 points (43G, 62A) in 80 games last season and nine points (3G, 6A) in U18 World Championship games. Nazar is known for his speed a.mnd playmaking ability, and he will continue developing at the University of Michigan this fall.

It's unclear when Nazar will start playing for the Rockford IceHogs or the Blackhawks, but given how long the rebuild is going to take, there's no rush. From the Dach trade, Chicago now has the 66th overall pick; the second day of the NHL Draft starts at 10 a.m. CT.
