With the 2022 NHL draft right around the corner, many are speculating who the Canadiens Gm Kent Hughes is going to take first overall on draft day.
Kingston Frontenacs captain Shane Wright is believed to be the odds on favorite but for the first time in a while there's no clear cut first overall choice. We have some scouts picking US born Logan Cooley as the top choice, while others have the Slovakia sniper Juraj Slafkovsky as the top player in this draft.
All three choices look like Hughes can't go wrong no matter who he picks but there's going to be critics on who he doesn't pick especially if Hughes decides not to take Wright first overall which might be the case.
According former 1986 Stanley cup winning coach with the Canadiens turned hockey annylist Jean Perron, a contact of his has confirmed that the Montreal Canadiens will be selecting Juraj Slavkovsky instead of Shane Wright.
The reason believed if this is indeed the case to have Slavkovsky play wing alongside Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki. The Habs believe this could be one of the most dangerous lines having these three playing together.
We don't have to wait to much longer as the 2022 Entry Draft will be happening on July 7th in Montreal. Will the Canadiens shock the hockey world and if so what will be the reaction be from the Bell Centre? Will find out in July.
