It has been quite obvious since last season that the Blackhawks are planning to be sellers and not buyers at the NHL's trade deadline and free-agency periods, meaning they are wanting to get key pieces for their rebuild in exchange for players, like the Alex DeBrincat to the Ottawa Senators trade.
Max Domi, Andreas Athanasiou, Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews all have high speculation of being moved at the NHL's trade deadline, both Max and Andreas were signed by the Blackhawks last off-season in hopes to flip them for valuable assets at this upcoming trade deadline further on in the year.
But, what if a Blackhawks defensemen is now in the mix, and he could be gone any time now?
That defensemen is Jake McCabe, a defender who is tough as nails and also has a wicked shot when he wants to use it.
McCabe, who is a 29-year old defensemen who is holding a cap hit of $4 million per season until 2026 does not ideally fit the Chicago Blackhawks ''rebuild'' stages needs, but he would slot into many organizations lineups.
Many contending organizations are battling severe injuries right now more then ever and are in need of players with friendly contracts, McCabe falls right into that category with his $4,000,000 cap hit and his grittiness which would benefit any team in the playoffs.
It is early on in the year but McCabe is on pace to have a career-high best season in point totals, if the Blackhawks do not want him along for the rebuild, the time is now as his value is high!
