Seabrook ultimately had to retire due to some of his nagging injuries and retired from the NHL accomplishing the rare feat of only wearing one jersey his entire career. So what has Brent Seabrook been up to since his retirement?
Seabrook is a volunteer player development coach for the Vancouver Giants. He makes the 4 hour drive from Kelowna to Vancouver every couple of weeks to work with the Giants defensemen as well as with head coach Michael Dyck. Seabrook helps coach Dyck to develop practice plans and help on the powerplay.
Seabrook is still technically under contract with Tampa Bay which means that he can't officially hold a coaches title in any league. Seabrook seems to have a knack for coaching and everyone he comes into contact with loves him.
Seabrook also revealed that he still is in communication with the Blackhawks front office and his old teammates. While he is unable to ever play competitively again in the NHL, the future is bright for Seabrook. Who knows. Maybe one day he'll be behind the bench in Chicago.
