Chitown baseball fans celebrate Bedard first rounder on the road
The news has arrived, and the city of Chicago is rejoicing the Chicago Blackhawks have been selected as the first overall draft pick in this year's draft.
As all fans know, Connor Bedard will become a Blackhawk at this draft this summer. Having seen the Blackhawks cut their organization and line themselves up as best they could to land this pick, citizens across Chicago who follow professional sports were ecstatic.
One such group was the Chicago White Sox. The White Sox were on the road tonight at Kauffman Stadium to meet the KC Royals. Many White Sox fans were cheering as loud as they can, knowing that Connor Bedard was coming to the Blackhawks. There was even a Let's Go Blackhawks chant breaking out throughout the baseball stadium.
Drafting this generational talent is laying the groundwork for the Blackhawks to rebuild their franchise once again into a new image and become competitive once again.
The Blackhawks have numerous first-round and second-round draft picks this year and next year and we'll need to select carefully as they continue to fill out their cupboards with prospects.
