Chicago Blackhawks forward Alex Debrincat will be the lone Hawk at the All Star Game this weekend. This year, its going to be at home of the Vegas Golden Knights, the T-Mobile Arena. Its the first All Star Game held in Vegas.
Friday night, the NHL will host its fan favorite, Skills Competition. Many fans have fond memories of watching the skills competition. Patrick Roy and Eddie Belfour dueling it out during the shootouts was awesome to see. Ray Bourque and Jeremy Roenick hitting the targets and going 4 for 4. Mike Gartner and Connor McDavid showing off their world class speed. Chara blasting a 108 MPH slapshot. All of these make for great memories of our favorites players.
This will be the first all Star Game for Alex Debrincat. His 26 goals halfway through the season, have earned him a spot. He is the only Blackhawk participating this year. That's correct, no Fleury and no Kane. That's how abysmal the season has been for the Hawks.
DeBrincat is one of five skaters in the event. He will go up against Kirill Kaprizov (Minnesota Wild), Trevor Zegras (Anaheim Ducks), Jack Hughes (New Jersey Devils), and Alex Pietrangelo (Vegas Golden Knights). Manon Rhéaume and Wyatt Russell will serve as the goalies for the competition.
Debrincat has slick hands, and its going to entertaining to see him put on some moves. He has converted on only 4 of his 11 shootout attempts, but that's a different atmosphere than the ASG.
