Longtime Blackhawks Captain Jonathan Toews Declares NHL Comeback in Statement
Jonathan Toews is a Chicago Blackhawks legend, the #19 will be in the rafters soon, but not without a last ride as he has declared his NHL comeback.
Toews is undoubtedly going into the hall of fame, 1,067 games, three Stanley Cups, a Conn Smythe and Selke trophy, two gold medals for Team Canada, and Captain of the Chicago Blackhawks.
Toews, since playing his last game on April 13, 2023, which was a 5-4 overtime loss to the Philadelphia Flyers, has taken his mental and physical health seriously.
From going to India, to learning to surf in Costa Rica and Bali, Toews feels the best he's felt in years.
Toews said this about his health:
«I just remembered how poorly I felt when I was finishing my last year in Chicago. Now I go out on the ice and it's a new sense of energy and lightness, and I'm just really excited to be out there. I was just remembering how much I was battling through every day and now it's a whole different story. That contrast is really motivating and really exciting for me. I really do feel like I've done the work, and I'm in a different place. It's just a lot of fun. I'm really looking forward to every time I get to go on the ice right now, and that's a really good feeling.»
Which has brought him back to the ice, and in an article by the
NHL on Toews' return, he's declaring his comeback for the 2025-26 NHL season.
Jonathan has been skating again and getting back into the swing of things, eyeing a possible return to the NHL.
Jonathan is going to skate with his buddies after the NHL season is over to see if he's really prepared and ready to go next season if he decides to play.
It'll be amazing to see, because he's dealt with COVID and Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome, and just shows how hard he's worked to come back.
Plus, you can never get enough of a little Tazer out on the ice.
