After the 2018-19 season a fan favourite around the entire league by the name of Dustin Byfuglien, and the nickname "Big Buff" decided to take a leave of absence from the NHL, leaving nearly $14,000,000 still left on his contract behind.
It was reported that with all the injuries Byfuglien was battling, mixed emotions began to develop and he was no longer happy with hockey. Byfuglien chose to go off the grid with his wife Emily and three kids, where they now seem to be living an adventurous life.
On April 17th of 2022 Byfuglien decided to come together with the Winnipeg Jets and agree on contract termination. He truly chose happiness over money and the game of hockey which many respected.
Surprisingly it appears Big Buff and a few of his former Chicago Blackhawks teammates have laced back up the skates again!
And you thought the only ice you'd see Dustin Byfuglien on would be if he's ice fishing but somehow former Jets captain Andrew Ladd got the big guy back out on the ice.
Maybe there's still time left in the season to sign him.
It appears Kris Versteeg, Andrew Ladd and Dustin Byfuglien are all participating in a charity hockey tournament this weekend!
