Former Canadiens coach places 3 Stanley Cup rings for auction.
The 12-year playing career of former Montreal head coach Mario Tremblay has been filled with much success and notoriety from the organization. During his time with the Canadiens, he won the Stanley Cup five times and was well known for his toughness as he amassed well over 1000 penalty minutes during his time in the NHL.
Once his career was finished in 1986 after winning his fifth cup, he reemerged in 1995 and became the head coach of the Montreal Canadiens only lasted for two seasons. Both years he made the playoffs though he lost in the first round both years.
Today, Tremblay has announced that he will place three of his Stanley Cup rings up for auction. His 1977, 78 and 79 rings will be the ones he will part with. As his late father passed away the same year he won his 1986 ring he chose to keep it because his father gave it back to him before his passing.
It was said he is doing this because he wishes to enjoy what's left of his life while sharing some of the wealth with his family long after he passes.
During his career, he played 852 games, scored 258 goals with 326 assists for 584 points. He stood at 1043 penalty minutes.
