Brandon Hagel is somewhat of a late bloomer, and after leaving Chicago for the warm Florida weather in Tampa Bay it seems his play and production have risen and he has become a part of the Lightning brotherhood.
As evidenced recently, Tampa took acception to Detroit's superstar defenceman Moritz Seider hammering Lightning winger Brandon Hagel to the ice. Former Hab turned stud Lightning defenseman Mikhail Sergachev and former Ottawa Senator Nick Paul raced to the defence of their teammate and a pair of Red Wings were willing combattants - Ben Chiarot, but the situation was stopped before anything escalated.
You can say for yourself whether you felt it was a clean or dirty hit. But one thing can be certain - Moritz Seider can do the finesse offensive things, he can skate like the wind, man a powerplay and defend unlike many others his age. He has now added a layer of big hits and with his large frame still not fully matured, it's hard to imagine many wingers coming down his side of the ice to enter the zone don't think twice before doing so, to avoid getting hammered.
Seider is dishing out big hits and asking questions later. The league will certainly know to gameplan for Seider from now on.
