Former NHLer calls out commentator for imitating.
Since beginning my writing gig last November, one aspect is always kept me in check when quoting or mentioning statements by other people. Integrity is paramount for writing.
I've always felt that it's wrong not to give credit where credit is due for people who either bring information to others or use their sayings.
Well, it appears that ESPN commentator Leah Hextall refused to do such a thing when she used a saying by John Forslund. This caught the attention of former Blackhawks star Eddie Olczyk. The video can be seen below on the second slide:
The saying itself, «hey hey whaddya say» was used by Forslund to honour his late father. Olczyk brought this up on a live broadcast and felt the need to explain why it was so wrong this was happening.
Whether it was an honest mistake, or intentional it's always important to keep your integrity in check and always acknowledge people who have coined their sayings, especially on live television that most fanbases would recognize.
Meanwhile, the Hawks are about to conclude their season with two games remaining. They are on the road and will face the Pittsburgh Penguins on April 11th. Game time will be at 7:30 PM Eastern.
