Simmonds may only be in his mid-30's, but his NHL career was unlike very many, Simmonds has battled through hip injuries and has never stopped playing a heavy-hitting, tough battling fighting game after fourteen whole NHL seasons!
Simmonds is currently under contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs at a all-time low of annual earnings at $900,000 per season. Simmonds is taking place in the Maple Leafs preseason games to justify where he will fall in the Leafs lineup, *if* he still has it in him and can prove he deserves to be on the team.
Simmonds did not disappoint Friday night against the Ottawa Senators, he threw a massive clean hit against the Ottawa Senators assistant captain Tomas Chabot, and it was a beauty!
