In an unfortunate turn for the Rangers, tonight's game against the Sabres took a worrisome twist as Kaapo Kakko left the ice with a potential injury. The incident occurred late in the second period when Kakko fell awkwardly on his left leg during a collision with Buffalo defenseman Erik Johnson along the boards.
The Finnish winger immediately showed signs of distress, grabbing at his left knee and writhing on the ice in pain. A replay on the MSG video board elicited an audible reaction from the crowd, highlighting the severity of the situation, almost appeared like his leg was broken.
Assisted to his feet and guided off the ice, Kakko couldn't put any weight on his left leg. This comes at a challenging time for the Rangers, who recently welcomed back one key player but now face the potential loss of another. The team had previously experienced setbacks, losing both Adam Fox and Filip Chytil in a game against the Hurricanes on Nov. 2.
The status of Kakko's injury remains uncertain, and further updates are awaited.
