Honoring The Blackhawks Best 40 Ever: Can you guess who it is? Rare 1980's Blackhawks Footage
We are officially 40 days away from September 28th, which marks the Blackhawks first day back on the ice, in a official NHL pre-season game.
Today, we honor the best #40 as we are 40 days away from Hawkey season!! Did you guess correctly who the #44 was in the photo? It was a hard one!! The career summary below is brought to you by NBC Sports Chicago!
No. 40: Darren Pang (G, 1984-89)
Pang spent only two full seasons in the NHL and both of them were in Chicago, where he appeared in 81 total games. The 5-foot-5, 155-pound netminder's best season came in 1987-88 when he finished third in the Calder Trophy race after going 17-23-1 with a 3.18 goals-against average and .891 save percentage.
Pang was one of the smallest NHL goaltender in history, just take a look at how small he looked compared to former Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop!!
Despite the size being very small, he sure had the ability to move around quickly as many other goaltender could not, a perfect example being this highlight-reel stop below.
