Jonathan Toews has been the topic of discussion around the Blackhawks as of late. Between his comments on playing through the rebuild, to his celebration of playing his 1,000th game. Anywhere you look for Blackhawks news, you've seen his name. And with his time with the Blackhawks possibly coming to an end, now seemed like a good time to take a quick look at the career of Jonathan Toews up until this point.

Jonathan Toews was born on April 29, 1988 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He grew up loving the game of hockey from a young age and found himself at the University of North Dakota for his college hockey years. He played two seasons for the Fighting Hawks, tallying 40 goals and 45 assists for a total of 85 points.

Following his two seasons at North Dakota, Toews would go on to be the third overall pick of the 2006 NHL draft. Toews started out hot scoring his first career goal in his first career game against the San Jose Sharks, and he never looked back. Toews would go on to win three Stanley Cups with the Blackhawks in 2010, 2013, and 2015. He also won the Conn Smythe trophy in 2010 and the Frank J. Selke trophy in 2013. Statistically so far in his career, Toews has 355 goals and 489 assists for a career point total of 844 points.

Toews also has quite the resume in the international game. He was on the Team Canada squad that won the IIHF World Junior Championship in 2006 and 2007. He also became the first player in Canadian history to win the IIHF World Junior and senior World championships in the same year in 2007. Along with that, Toews also has two olympic gold medal with Team Canada from the 2010 and 2014 winter games.

Regardless of how you feel about Toews in light of his recent comments, it is undeniable that he is one of the greatest Blackhawks of all time. One could have a legit argument for him being the greatest captain in team history. Whether or not you want to call him that is up for debate, but one thing that is not, is the fact that somewhere down the line, 19 will be in the rafters at the United Center.
