Kane's Former Teammate Says He's Excited to See Kane Leave Chicago and More in Recent Interview
It has been a strange season for Patrick Kane. He has been dealing with a hip injury basically all year while also being at the front of trade rumors.
Kaner has certainly not been himself, and it has become evident on the ice.
He has always been known to play with a more laid back style, but that style of play does not work at all with the current Hawks roster.
He used to be able to be a great playmaker with the puck on his stick, but now he struggles to create chances with most of the attention on him.
He has even been laid back, and somewhat "lazy," on the defensive end, which was evident in Auston Matthews' goal last night. Watch as Kaner seems to give up on the play hoping Domi will help him out. Tough to blame Domi if they were playing a man defense, but that is Domi's fault if he left his zone without warning.
Anyways, Alex DeBrincat was asked about Kane's situation with Chicago, and had this to say:
"It's been tough for him. A lot of his buddies got moved out last year and I think he's been going through a little bit of the injury stuff. ... It's a tough season. I can't say he probably wants to be in a rebuild right now, but you guys can ask him that."
DeBrincat then went on to say:
"He's so competitive. He's a guy who wants to win every night and be the best player on the ice every night. So I can imagine this is tough for him."
DeBrincat also mentioned that the league is excited to see if Kaner leaves to find a new home. I don't see why anyone who isn't a Hawks fan wouldn't be excited, as he is a future Hall of Famer and can put up some serious stats with talent around him, as we have seen before.
