Since being selected with the Number 1 pick in the 2007 NHL Draft, Patrick Kane has become a three-time Stanley Cup champion and one of the best U.S. born players in NHL history, as well as Blackhawks history. At 33 years old and now wearing the A on his chest, he finished his 2021-2022 season with 92 points in 78 games played, consisting of 26 goals and 66 assists. Since Kyle Davidson came in as the new general manager, the talk of the season has been the promise of a rebuild to the team and to the fans. We've already seen some changes in the front office and on the roster following the trade deadline. Fans have been curious to see what part Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane have to play in that rebuild. Check out this quote below from yesterday:

It's no secret that the young guys coming into the program would have a lot to learn from Patrick Kane and the fact that he is so open and ready to step into that position is reassuring. He has over 10 years of show experience and is still improving his own game as well; on March 8, 2022, he scored his career-high six points (1 goal, 5 assists) in the Blackhawks' 8-3 regular-season win against the Anaheim Ducks.

The postseason interviews have been extremely insightful to where the players stand on Davidson's rebuild plans and as a fan myself, I think it is more than worth it to resign Kane if he is this willing to help guide the program back to greatness.
