The Toronto Maple Leafs roster has been hurting this season due to injuries, but despite the fact that they are hurting for defence with Morgan Rielly being on the injury reserve there is still one player on the back end that has been swarmed with trade rumours this season, as well as the last few.

Just take a look at their defensive pairings, it nearly resembles an AHL team if Mark Giordano was not there..

Justin Holl, who was drafted by the Blackhawks in 2010 and is a 30-year old defensemen gets the opportunity on the top d-pairing, which is quite frankly a disaster waiting to happen. Holl has been swarmed in trade rumours over the past few seasons due to the high demand for right handed defensemen, but the Leafs have not elevated their defensive core whatsoever to have the opportunity to move him.

On Tuesday night the Toronto Maple Leafs took on the Dallas Stars, and Justin Holl had one of the worst plays of the season...

Holl caught the puck out of mid-air in the Leafs defensive zone and instead of passing it down to his stick to clear it, he straight up made an audition for the Toronto Blue Jays and pitched the puck forward..

This has to be one of the worst penalties this season, which put his goaltenders shutout at risk as Dallas headed to the powerplay.
