Not on the list was first time All-Star, Alex Debrincat. He has had a stellar year with 23 goals and 9 assists. He is the only Hawk who was voted in by fans, to participate in the All-Star game in February. The Las Vegas Golden Knights have the honor this year of hosting their first all star game.
Speaking of Las Vegas, also not mentioned was former Vezina winner, goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury. The veteran goalie has had a slow start, by his standards to the season. However, he has definitely found his stride and has a 13-11-3 record with .916 save % and 2.69 goals against average. He has kept the inconsistent Hawks in many a games, all a team asks for these days, really.
The Hawks only signed Fleury to a one year, 7 million dollar contract.
Fleury agreed to go to Chicago because the team had made some serious moves, got back Jonathan Toews, and was supposed to be a playoff contender in the west. The Blackhawks also picked up Seth Jones from Columbus, in hopes of bolstering the defense. The contract wasn't cheap, nor short. Jujhar Khaira was also brought in from Edmonton, along with veteran Tyler Johnson. All the pieces they need to be a contender, right? That hasn't been the case at all, and the team sits eight points out of a playoff position with five teams to leapfrog. It certainly doesn't seem like they are getting in, and the Blackhawks should do the veteran netminder a solid and ask him if he would like to be dealt at the deadline for another Cup run. There a handful of teams that could use the Vezina winners talent to solidify a strong cup run.
Which team do you think should make a move?
