The puck hasn't even dropped yet on the 2022 NHL season but sparks our already flying. July 7th the next batch of future NHL stars would head to Montreal for the NHL draft.
Including Shane Wright and Juraj Slafkovsky. Wright was the consensus pick for first overall in the draft, but the Canadiens would decide to throw a twist in the draft taking Juraj Slafkovsky.
Wright would give the Canadiens a death stare after dropping down to fourth overall going to the Seattle Kraken. Wright would downplay "The Stare" but everyone knew he wasn't happy not going first overall. Wright would say "I going to have a chip on his shoulder for sure."
We might have our next Sidney Crosby vs Alex Ovechkin type rivalry all though Slafkovsky is from Slovakia. On Wednesday, a video from Hockey Slovakia started going viral when both Slafkovsky, and New Jersey Devils 2nd overall pick Simon Nemec were filmed doing the Wright death-stare.
I think fans will be very interested when the Canadiens and Kraken meet this season with these two young guns looking to be better than the other.
