NHL Mascots really bring out a lot of personality within a team, and give fan bases a chance to interact with fans in the crowd, take Gritty from the Philadelphia Flyers for instance who has grown his own fan base in the city of brotherly love.

Mascots tend to do a lot of scripts with actors in attendance all for fun and publicity, but on Monday night in Florida, an opposing teams fan truly crossed the line. The Florida Panthers handed the Tampa Bay Lighting a huge 7-1 loss, and it came as a surprise, it seemed as if Lightning fans were quite salty and one fan took it to the next level attacking the Florida Panthers mascot as he was laughing, thinking it was a joke.

There has been no word of what caused this, but what we believe so far, and what the video displays, is that this Lightning fan acted out of anger due to his team getting dominated on the scoreboard, and thought it would be funny to assault the Florida Panthers mascot in front of a section filled with Lightning fans.

Security did not even consider stepping in, and two workers were seen awkwardly smiling uncomfortably on the side while the altercation was happening, not breaking thing up.

Definitely a questionable situation for this Lightning fan, and with this video blowing up hopefully he realizes it wasn't too fun for the Panthers mascot, even though the fan was all smile was assaulting him.
