Connor McDavid - NHL 22: 95, NHL 23: 99. EA Sports doesn't like to do this when it comes to the NHL game, but Connor McDavid should be the only 99 overall player in NHL 23. His nickname is Connor McJesus, and it is well deserved. He had 123 points, leading the league. Nobody should argue if McDavid is a 99 overall in this year's game.
Nathan MacKinnon - NHL 22: 93, NHL 23: 94. 88 points is amazing, but it normally is barely enough to get you into the 90s. MacKinnon is one of the biggest names in hockey, which gets him in the 90s already. He had huge jump, and was 93 overall before the jump.
Patrick Kane - NHL 22: 92, NHL 23: 92. He had 91 points, and at his age shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. He is fine where he is at 92 overall.
Trevor Zegras - NHL 22: 82, NHL 23: 85. Trevor Zegras is going to be higher than an 82. He is so talented for his age (21 years old). A franchise guy for Anaheim and his rating will continue to go up throughout the years.
Alex DeBrincat - NHL 22: 88, NHL 23: 90. The Cat scored 40+ goals at 41, and 37 assists, bringing him to 78 points on the season. 78 points isn't enough when it comes to being a 90 overall, but he was already an 88 overall before his breakout season.
Artemi Panarin - NHL 22: 91, NHL 23: 93. 96 points in the regular season, and playing a huge role in the Rangers' playoff run, scoring 16 points. He is a phenomenal, talented player, and with rumors Kane may join him again, how do you not boost his overall?
It is hard to guess with EA Sports, as the process and rankings has people scratching their heads.
