Now former Blackhawks captain has a decision to make
With the 2022-2023 NHL season in the rearview mirror the Blackhawks beginning their painstaking rebuilding phase, now former superstar and captain of the Blackhawks Jonathan Toews have the decision to make.
Toews has admitted that he may be retiring a Blackhawk..
Since his return from illness that kept him out of the lineup for over two months, rumours circulated throughout the NHL that this will be the last season Toews will play for any team.
With the idea that the Blackhawks will not resign, he certainly will take Toews some time to process what's happening then he will have to decide whether he wants to continue to play hockey in the NHL or play for another organization.
Once his intentions are clear, if he decides to play again I'm positive there will be many teams lining up for his services as he still has plenty left in the tank to offer a team a chance to win a Stanley Cup.
If he chooses to retire he would like to retire as a Blackhawk. He plays his entire career with this organization and has given the fanbase ownership much to cheer for and to be happy about over his tenure with the team.
It seems fitting that if he chooses to hang up his skates for good, he should be retired as a Blackhawk.
