Former Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Nikita Zadorov has been traded to the Vancouver Canucks.
A disappointing loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs earlier in the season had led Zadarov to request a trade. He is not the only defenseman who wants to leave the team.
A 5th-round pick from Chicago in 2024 and a 3rd-round pick in 2026 were traded for Zadarov today in an ironic swap.
With Patrik Allvin, the Canucks have acquired a great physical defenseman with some offensive potential.
They not only sent a pick that wasn't originally theirs, but they got a blueliner that could be helpful in the post-season, should they find themselves there.
Last season, Zadarov scored 14 goals and 21 points in 82 games with the Calgary Flames, and he will undoubtedly be a valuable addition to the Vancouver Canucks.
