Way back in 1961, the Chicago Black Hawks won their third Stanley Cup beating the Detroit Red Wings 5-1 and taking the finals 4-2. It was their first since the wins in 1934 and 1938, and their last until 2010. This Stanley Cup run was significant in that it represented the first Cup appearances for both Bobby Hull and Stan Makita. Hull scored two goals in the finals, while Makita tallied an assist on the game winner in game six. The surprise her on the day was Reggie Fleming, who scored a short handed goal to tie the game 1-1. These three were surrounded by Black Hawk greats Pierre Pilote, Al Arbour and Glenn Hall, among others. Interesting side-note, Canadians were nearly unable to watch the finals, as the CBC only rights to carry both Montreal and Toronto. The CBC was clever, sending the broadcast to Windsor which had an interest being so close, just over the river from Detroit. From there, they sent the broadcast to Toronto and then the rest of Canada.
