Savard shared an anecdote from his coaching days with the Chicago Blackhawks, recalling an incident after a game in Nashville.
Savard, now 62, recounted the story during the NBC broadcast of the Blackhawks game against the Anaheim Ducks on December 8.
According to him, after the game, a trainer informed him that everyone was on the bus. As Savard made his way out of the locker room, he stumbled upon Kane engaged in conversation with two young ladies.
"Really?" Savard exclaimed, interrupting the conversation. "Let's go, now." Despite Kane's desire to chat a bit longer, Savard reminded him of the rules, emphasizing the need to get on the bus promptly.
While Savard admitted he didn't have too many rules for the younger Blackhawks team during his coaching stint from 2006 to 2009, leaving the stadium on time was one he insisted upon.
"Make sure all the players are on the bus," Savard instructed the trainers.
Slightly annoyed with Kane that night due to a misplay resulting in a goal against the Blackhawks, Savard enforced the rules. The next day, Kane approached Savard to discuss the incident. It was then that Savard learned the identity of the mysterious woman Kane was talking to.
«He knocks on the door and he goes, Savy,'» recounted Savard. «I said, What's up?' He goes, So you know, last night?' He goes, That was Taylor Swift.' I go, OK. I don't care.'»
Savard, confessing he wasn't familiar with Swift at the time, consulted his wife, who confirmed her identity as an up-and-coming singer.
This revelation adds a touch of humor to the sports world, highlighting the unexpected intersections between hockey and pop culture.
