Phil Kessel is Wanting to Make a Major to Keep his NHL Career Alive
Despite his remarkable 1,065-game ironman streak, Kessel is open to adjusting his role for the 2023-24 NHL season, offering teams major flexibility.
"The three-time Stanley Cup champion wants to play again in 2023-24. But, the most significant detail is that he's let teams know it won't be a problem if he's not an every-day player." Friedman said.
Kessel's Impact and Future in NHL
Playing a full 82-game season with the Golden Knights last year, Phil Kessel made limited playoff appearances. As training camps draw near, speculation grows about his future. As his 36th birthday approaches on October 2nd, a possible professional try-out contract could aid the 35-year-old in securing a roster spot.
