REPORT - Ex-Chicago Blackhawk Still in Search For a Home in Free Agency
Former Chicago Blackhawks forward Tyler Motte remains unsigned for the second year in a row during unrestricted free agency. Despite his skills in defensive play, penalty killing, and maintaining an edge without many penalties, he's still looking for a team.
Motte's abilities, valued by contending teams, haven't led to quick contract offers. Last year, he signed a one-year, $1.35 million deal with the Ottawa Senators just before training camp, following his time with the New York Rangers in the playoffs. However, he struggled, managing only three goals in 38 games due to a broken finger sidelining him for 15 games.
When the Rangers got him back, he improved, scoring five goals and five assists in 24 games. Although his playoff performance lacked points, he remained valuable.
With his experience and skills, Motte should attract interest from teams seeking versatile players in the coming weeks.
