Report: Minnesota Wild and Chicago Blackhawks Becoming Trade Partners?
With the Blackhawks recent struggles, it is almost guaranteed that the team will be sellers at the trade deadline. The Hawks lack depth, but they have some solid talent at the front of their lines.
Obviously, Kane and Toews are big candidates to get dealt away this winter, but who else could get some attention?
Well, it seems we have found out one of those guys is Andreas Athanasiou.
According to NHL Trade Rumors, the Minnesota Wild are looking for a scoring winger, and Athanasiou may fit their needs perfectly.
Athanasiou has just 9 points in 22 games this year, but that does not tell the story at all.
Athanasiou has proven himself to be one of the better skaters in the league, and this season, he has demonstrated amazing puck handling and scoring abilities. He consistently skates through and around defenders to create high quality scoring chances.
This is probably the play that put Athanasiou on the Wild's radar:
With his solid offensive skills, he is almost guaranteed to see an increase in point production if he gets shipped off to a contending team with plenty of surrounding talent.
The Wild have the surrounding talent that can take his game to the next level.
Credit to NHL Trade Rumors for the story.
