It appears that owning a professional sports team has become the new fashion statement for most celebrities in North America. Names continued to pop up over the last number of years for actors and musicians wanting to own a piece of the sports world and continuing to search for a team to help them.

With the Ottawa Senators currently, on sale, this has become one of the most hotly contested purchases in recent memory. Snoop Dogg entered this race with a bid from Neo Sparks and it appears that his group is in trouble of losing out on this franchise.

According to Frank Seravalli of thedailyfaceoff.com, it seems that the group is still trying to secure funds to purchase this team. It also appears that they can't find the money fast enough as they have deemed it an urgent matter.

That's troubling as the Senators have always been in the limelight as a team that struggled financially throughout its history.

Former owners like Rod Bryden and Bruce Firestone looked for federal and provincial assistance when they owned the Senators in Kanata, which is 10 to 20 kilometres west of the city.

Rather than being based in their downtown core like all NHL organizations this once-strong team has faced some tough times.

It's expected this sale wrap up within the next week or two with the new ownership announced.
