The WHL has been bouncing lately. It's astonishing how trades in these minor leagues can have this many players and picks involved for one player coming in return.
Today, announced by Jeff Marek, another blockbuster trade happened. Anaheim Ducks prospect, Olen Zellweger, has been traded from the Everett Silvertips to the Kamloops Blazers for four 1st round picks, a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th round picks, and add in four players.
Zellweger is 19 years old and was drafted 34th overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft by the Ducks. Olen has 10 goals and 18 assists, totaling up to 28 points in 23 games for the Silvertips. Anaheim should be very excited for this prospect, and is another step in the right direction for that franchise out in the West Coast.
