There have been a few pleasant surprises for the Blackhawks this season, but the biggest one has to be the play of Max Domi. Domi signed a one-year $3 million dollar contract with Chicago this past summer and has been the most productive Blackhawk this season.
Domi's 30 points this season leads the team offensively and his 18:20 of ice time per game is second best to Patrick Kane among forwards. With the Blackhawks trying to get future superstar Connor Bedard in this year's draft, Domi may actually be playing himself out of Chicago. Many contenders will most likely be calling Chicago to ask about Domi, but should the Blackhawks trade him?
I think the Blackhawks should try to explore the market for Max Domi. With the way the draft played out last year with the departures of Kirby Dach and Alex DeBrincat, the message was loud and clear; we need a reset. When Domi signed with Chicago this summer, one of his main reasons was because of the hiring of Luke Richardson.
If the Blackhawks decide to move Domi, nothing is stopping them from making him an offer in free agency next offseason. Domi is currently only 27 years old and seems to love Chicago and the organization, so trading him for draft capital at this time wouldn't be a bad idea. The Blackhawks have 9 picks in this upcoming draft including 4 in the first two rounds. It's unclear what the Hawks might get for Domi, but adding to that stockpile would only help make the future a little brighter.
