Leaving the Blackhawks with very little time and very slim options for a starting goaltender as well as a backup. The Blackhawks decided to trade for
Petr Mrazek, who had a atrocious 3.34 goals against average last season in goal for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and to top it off they signed goaltender Alex Stalock to backup Mrazek. Stalock did not have a NHL job in nearly four years, due to injuries, and played in the AHL where he somehow had worse stats than Mrazek did.
