The Blackhawks Starting Goalie Forgot How to Goalie (video)
The Chicago Blackhawks were in quite the pickle of a situation this off-season, the team decided to not renew the contract of starting goaltender Kevin Lankinen, and also waive Collin Delia, the Blackhawks backup goaltender last season.
Leaving the Blackhawks with very little time and very slim options for a starting goaltender as well as a backup. The Blackhawks decided to trade for Petr Mrazek, who had a atrocious 3.34 goals against average last season in goal for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and to top it off they signed goaltender Alex Stalock to backup Mrazek. Stalock did not have a NHL job in nearly four years, due to injuries, and played in the AHL where he somehow had worse stats than Mrazek did.
The Blackhawks were set up for a mess last night as they faced off against the former Cup Champions, the Colorado Avalanche. It was a mess, and hectic, as seen below when goaltender Petr Mrazek went on a slip-and-slide.
