The historic run the Tampa Bay Lightning have been on over the last 3 seasons have brought to light another broken NHL record to add to their collection. From 2020-2022, the Tampa Bay Lightning have played in a jaw dropping 67 playoff games and counting. There is no question that regardless of how this Stanley Cup Final turns out, the Lightning have a dynasty; and an impressive one to say the least.
While their record may seem absolutely insane, the Blackhawks actually rank number 2 on the list and previously held the record until the 2022 Eastern Conference Final. The Blackhawks' previous record was 65 playoff games played over the 2013-2015 seasons. Over that span, we witnessed countless fantastic playoff games, such as the game 7 win vs. Detroit, the triple overtime game 1 vs. Boston, the 17 seconds game, and the 2015 cup clinching game, just to name a few.
The way the Lightning are playing have brought many Blackhawks fans back to the dynasty era, which saw the Hawks bring 3 cups home to Chicago in a 6-season span. There were countless overtime games and memories made from that era of Blackhawks hockey. Although things may seem gloomy as the Blackhawks enter this period of uncertainty, now it is the perfect time to step back and realize how special and historic that era of Blackhawks hockey was that many of us took for granted.
