Patrick Kane seemed quite crushed and surprised in his most recent interview, due to the fact that the New York Rangers, Kane's #1 hoped for trade destination, acquired Vladimir Tarasenko and not him.

Tweet by Mark Lazerus: Patrick Kane on the Rangers' Tarasenko deal:
"It's not like the happiest I've been to hear about a trade. ... If things are going to happen, that was a team I was definitely looking at. It seems like they kind of filled their void and went ahead and made a deal."

Kane's best friend and former teammate Artemi Panarin is now with the New York Rangers, and that is another name added to the list of Kane's close friends who were shipped away out of Chicago for a poor return. Former NHL defensemen turned TSN analyst Carlo Colaiacovo recently revealed that Kane's two preferred destinations are the Toronto Maple Leafs, and still the New York Rangers.

While the New York Rangers made a deal that many thought would cancel the Patrick Kane to New York discussions, it appears that they aren't crossed out of the picture yet, and the Rangers can still make the trade.. with a few sacrifices...

Can #NYR make enough cap space to still fit Patrick Kane? Yes:

-If they sent 2 players down today (ex. Hajek/Gauthier) & had 21 players, with no other moves they could fit $2.8M in annual cap hit at deadline
-Kane with 75% retained is $2.625M Cap Hit

With the Rangers going all in, and two minor sacrifices needed to acquire Patrick Kane, it's simply a no-brainer move for the Rangers if Kane informed Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson that he would like to go there. Check out an infamous Pat Foley call, on a Kane and Panarin goal from years ago:
