For all practical purposes, the prevailing expectation has been that Patrick Kane would sign with the New York Rangers once he recovers from the hip surgery he underwent just before the start of the summer. While this might still occur, a new team has surfaced with a keen interest in the right winger.

According to George Richards of Florida Hockey Now, the Florida Panthers have recently gained attention for their pursuit of Kane, aiming to strengthen their lineup following their appearance in the Stanley Cup finals last year.

This potential signing could significantly enhance their offence, as Kane continues to have much to offer even at the age of 34. The former Chicago Blackhawks superstar, a three-time Stanley Cup winner with numerous other accolades to his name, briefly played for the Rangers after being traded before the deadline. He saw the Rangers as contenders for the Stanley Cup.

Before his injurya damaged hipKane played 54 games with the Blackhawks, scoring sixteen goals and providing 29 assists, accumulating 45 points. During his stint with the Rangers, which comprised 19 games, he managed five goals, seven assists, and 12 points.

Expected to return around mid-December, Kane is anticipated to regain his form with his repaired hip, reestablishing himself as an offensive threat. Notably, capfriendly.com indicates that the Florida Panthers currently have two playersAaron Ekblad and Brandon Montouron long-term injured reserve, providing them with an $11 million cap relief. This financial flexibility could potentially accommodate Kane's addition to their roster.
